Jeff started conducting through his work with young musicians in the Glossop area. Feeling the need to improve his conducting skills to meet the demands of the talented young players in the ensembles, he embarked on formal conducting studies in 2006 enrolling on the Canford Conducting course under Maestro George Hurst. In addition he attended several short courses with Timothy Reynish, Peter Stark, Denise Ham and Michael Rose and was recently invited by George Hurst to participate in his Masterclass at the Royal Academy of Music.

Jeff is currently Director of the Birmingham Conservatoire Junior  Wind Orchestra and Principal Musical Director of the Dark Peak Music Trust, conducting the Dark Peak Youth Orchestra and Concert Band

He has also conducted the Derbyshire Sinfonia including performances of Schubert Symphony No. 5, Stravinsky Dumbarton Oaks and Beethoven Symphony No 7. 

Guest conducting appearances have included The English Serenata with soloist Sir Willard White, Nottingham Symphony Orchestra,  Derby Symphony Orchestra and the Tintwistle Brass Band.
